Are you swinging, sliding or folding?

There’s no better way to spend a hot summer night than on a patio with cool drinks, tasty snacks and good people. What’s even nicer is having the hottest spot in town right in your own backyard.

So how do you come to have the patio of your dreams as an extension of your home? It all starts with the right patio door. The type of door you choose can greatly affect the way you utilize your patio’s space. There is no right or wrong choice, only, what works best for your vision. If you’re planning on investing in your backyard this summer, we’d like to share with you some of our most popular patio door styles.

Swinging

Swinging patio doors bring to the table a classic style that works well with a number of home designs. Hinged on the side of the frame, the panels swing open and closed much like a standard entry door. A plus is that this door gives you a luxurious entryway to your deck, or backyard patio or fire pit. There is really no minus, unless you have a tiny balcony or patio, in which case you would want to ensure your door has enough room to swing open without damaging anything (or anyone).

 Sliding

Sliding patio doors allow for an abundance of natural light and are easy to operate and maintain. They are also excellent space savers. The panels slide parallel to the wall so you don’t have to worry about them bumping into the table and spilling the sangria (or nachos). This makes them ideal for connecting crowded living rooms to narrow decks or balconies.

 Folding

A folding patio door opens and closes like an accordion. When it comes to picking out your patio door, there are several different configuration options worth considering. Available in 2-panel, 3-panel or 4-panel, the width of your patio door entrance becomes your choice. For this reason, folding patio doors work well where you require a wide opening or are looking for something elegant and custom.

However you choose your patio door, we hope it becomes a key piece in your backyard setup. Whether you are building a deck with a hot tub, a fire pit with cobblestone, or a backyard table and chairs set for entertaining company, we want to help you extend your living space to the outdoors.
