Tempered glass has been treated with heat so it can withstand greater force or pressure on its surface. The advantage of tempered glass is that if it does break it will shatter into tiny pieces instead of breaking into sharp pieces that could cause harm. This makes it ideal for patio doors, entry doors, or windows near to the ground. Tempered glass is also a smart choice for hazard prone areas, such as near bathtubs or stairways.
